# PromptQueen Chrome Extension — Privacy Policy

_Last updated: 13 September 2026_

PromptQueen is a browser extension that helps you turn rough ideas into structured prompts on AI chat sites. This policy explains what the extension does with your data.

## What the extension stores

| Data | Where | Why |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Your provider API keys (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, OpenRouter, Hugging Face) | `chrome.storage.local` — **this device only, never synced** | To call the AI provider you chose |
| Selected provider / model, backend URL, behaviour preferences, bubble positions, disabled domains | `chrome.storage.sync` (synced by Chrome to your profile) | So your settings follow you between devices |
| The text of the box you asked PromptQueen to enhance | `chrome.storage.session` (memory only, cleared when the browser closes) | To hand it from the page to the side panel |

Nothing is stored on PromptQueen servers.

## What the extension sends, and to whom

When you click **Analyze**, **Re-identify**, **Suggest** or **Generate**, the extension sends the text you are working on, together with your API key for the selected provider, over HTTPS to the PromptQueen backend you configured in Settings (by default the official PromptQueen API). The backend forwards the request to the AI provider **using your key** and returns the result. The backend does not persist prompts or keys; it keeps only short-lived request logs without key values.

If you choose an OpenRouter model, the request goes to OpenRouter, which routes it to the underlying vendor under OpenRouter's own privacy terms; PromptQueen sends only your prompt text and your key.

Content is checked against safety guardrails before any AI call. Blocked attempts may be logged (without personal data) to improve the guardrails.

The extension never reads pages you have not activated it on. On the AI chat sites it supports it only reads the composer box, and only when you click the PromptQueen bubble, use the keyboard shortcut, or the context menu. "On every website" mode is off by default and asks for permission explicitly.

## What the extension does not do

- No analytics, tracking pixels or advertising identifiers.
- No browsing history collection.
- No selling or sharing of data with third parties beyond the AI provider you chose.

## Permissions explained

- `storage` — save settings and keys as described above.
- `sidePanel` — show the PromptQueen panel. In installed-app windows (which have no side panel) the same panel is embedded in the page or opened as a small window; it still only reads the text box you chose.
- `activeTab`, `scripting` — read the text box you asked it to enhance and write the result back.
- `contextMenus` — the "Enhance with PromptQueen" right-click item.
- Optional `<all_urls>` — only requested if you enable "On every website".
